Chapin is a small town in the northern corner of Lexington County, about 24 miles northwest of Columbia along I-26. It is often called the Capital of Lake Murray, and the lake shapes much of the housing around it. The town hosts a Labor Day festival every year.
Chapin is served by Lexington-Richland School District Five, including Chapin High School. Like the rest of District Five, attendance zones are drawn by address, so we confirm them for each home.
Buyers here choose between in-town neighborhoods, newer subdivisions off the main roads, homes on larger rural lots, and waterfront or water-access homes on the lake. Each of those is a different purchase, with different inspections, insurance and resale.
I-26 makes the commute into Columbia straightforward, but it is the longest of the lake-side commutes. We check the drive from each home at your commute time.
